How to Install a Hoosier Cabinet Sugar Bin

Restoring a Hoosier cabinet is a labor of love that is well worth the effort. The early 1900s, all-in-one kitchen storage centers were filled with compartments and storage gadgets -- including a sugar bin with a funnel-like dispenser -- which often didn't make it intact through the years. Reproduction sugar bins for Hoosier cabinets are available, designed to fit in the original sliding mounting brackets, making putting the finishing touches on your restoration a snap.

Position the mounting bracket in the right or left hand corner of the Hoosier cabinet under one the first shelf in the cabinet. The bracket has a lip built into each side. Position the bracket so the lip is separated form the underside of the shelf.

Secure the bracket to the bottom of the shelf with the screws supplied with the mounting bracket. The screws require a Phillips screwdriver for installation.

    • 3

Slide the sugar bin onto the mounting bracket. The lips on the side of the bin slide on top of the lips on the bracket.
