Ideas for a Corner Bookshelf

Corner bookshelves come in various designs and feature numerous storage options for your personal items. A corner bookshelf often provides shelving options for books of various sizes, but the overall design may differ depending on your existing décor and style. While some bookshelf units become the corner's primary focal point, others are simple, leaving the books in focus.
  1. Open Design

    • Consider an open concept design. The open concept doesn't have back panels, so the walls show through each shelf. In addition, the shelves are triangular, either with 45-degree angle fronts or half-moon fronts. These designs come in various sizes, so a tall unit may offer more shelves than a smaller unit. Some of the smaller bookshelves can be folded, if they're attached to the 90-degree wall corner with hinges.

    Slanted Design

    • A slanted bookshelf can grab a visitor's attention due to its angled design. Slanted bookshelves are triangular in design and fit into 90-degree corners. The structure is wide near the floor and becomes increasingly narrow near the top. This change in structure also influences the sizes of the shelves. Slanted corner units come in natural wood, plus black, white and colorful finishes.

    Floating Corner Shelves

    • Floating corner shelves are simple corner solutions. Mount between three and six shelves in the corner, evenly spaced. The distance between each shelf depends on your decorations or the heights of your books. The shelves mount to the wall corners using floating shelf brackets. The brackets mount directly onto the wall, so they reach the wall studs. The front face of the shelving brackets use steel rods to hold the shelf in place, using pre-drilled holes.

    Zig-Zag Corner Units

    • Zig-Zag bookshelf designs provide a modern take on the classic shelving unit. An example includes the Zig-Zag corner unit, where each shelf is either slanted at 45 degrees, or a horizontal/vertical Zig-Zag shelf. A bookshelf frame holds the shelves in place and provides support, whether slanted or horizontal. Zig-Zag units come in various colors and finishes to suit your existing decor.
