Instructions

    • 1

Cut the 4-foot-long board that is 2 inches by 3 inches into four 12-inch pieces. These will serve as legs for your post to hold it upright.

    • 2

Lay the post on a table so that the end you want to use for the bottom is hanging over the edge. This will allow you to screw the legs you have cut onto all four sides.

    • 3

Place one of the legs at the bottom of the post so that a 3-inch side is facing the post and that one of the ends is flush with the post. The leg should stick out about 10 inches on one side of the post.

    • 4

Screw the leg onto the post using the drill. Use four screws evenly spaced for a sturdy hold.

    • 5

Rotate the post 90 degrees and repeat Steps 3 and 4 until all four legs are in place.

    • 6

Sandpaper the entire piece until the edges are rounded off and the surface is smooth.

    • 7

Finish the piece with wood stain. Apply the stain evenly across the wood using smooth strokes of the paintbrush. Allow to dry completely.

    • 8

Measure even intervals near the top of your post and attach hooks using screws. Place in the desired location and begin hanging your coats.
