How to Make a Folding Room Divider From Bi-Fold Doors

A couple of bi-fold doors creates a simple room divider when joined with two hinges. Anyone with the most basic of skills using a drill can make their own room divider from these doors. This craft is the ideal opportunity to recycle old closet doors after a remodel or purchase a new set from the local home improvement store. Paint or stain the doors to match your decor or cover with fabric or cork tiles to create a message center or display photos.

Instructions

    • 1

Stack both sets of doors on the work surface so the top and bottom of the doors are even. Stack the doors so the hinges for each set of doors is on the same side of the stack.

    • 2

Look at the side of the stack of doors opposite the hinges and you will see the four edges of the doors.

    • 3

Measure 1 foot down from the top and up from the bottom on the two center door edges and make a line at the measurements.

    • 4

Open one hinge and line the top edge of the hinge with a line on the edges of the two center doors.

    • 5

Hold the hinge with one hand and attach it to the door with the included screws using the drill.

    • 6

      Repeat for the other hinge.

    • 7

Stand the doors on end and paint, stain or decorate as desired.
