Select a plywood base to serve as the platform for each theater chair you are mounting. Generally, a plywood base that is 2 feet square should fit most smaller and movable theater chairs.
Place each theater chair on its plywood square, and use a pencil to mark the locations of the mounting holes of the legs of the chair on the face of the plywood.
Drill one-quarter-inch holes as marked on the plywood. Turn the plywood upside down and drill 1-inch holes corresponding to the quarter-inch holes already drilled on the face of the plywood.
Turn the plywood square right side up, and place it on two sawhorses so that each side of the plywood square is accessible. Check the alignment of the one-quarter-inch and 1-inch holes. Place the chair on the plywood square on the sawhorses, and line up the mounting holes on the legs of the chair with the quarter-inch holes on the face of the plywood.
Insert one-quarter-inch-by-1-inch bolts through the 4 mounting holes and the holes in the face of the plywood. Attach a washer and a lock nut to each inserted bolt from the bottom side of the plywood as it sits on the sawhorses. Tighten the washers and lock nuts with a socket and wrench.
