An outdoor lounge bed can create the ideal space to relax outdoors. Whether you want a place to lay back and soak up the sun’s rays or to catch up on your reading, a lounge bed is the place to do it. Instead of buying an outdoor lounge bed, you can make your own using recycled materials. Plastic crates such as the ones used for milk and other beverages make up the basic building blocks for your outdoor lounge bed. The modular style of the bed will allow you to pack it up at the end of the season and store it with ease in your basement, shed or garage.
- 15 plastic crates

1
Place the plastic crates bottom side up on the floor of your work space. Position the crates side by side in three rows of five to create a rectangular configuration.
-
2
Loop a wire tie through the each corner of each crate where it joins with the one next to it. Pull the wire ties tight to secure the crates together. Continue with this process until all of the crates are connected at the corners with wire ties.
