DIY Gel Seat Cushion

Remove the seat from the motorcycle. The seat removal method depends on your motorcycle's model. Some seats need a key to remove. Other motorcycles have a lever or button beneath the seat that lets you remove it.

Use pliers or a flathead screwdriver to pry out the staples attaching the seat cover to the shell.

Remove the foam pad between the seat cover and the shell. Lay the foam pad on a flat surface.

Fold a large foam sheet in half. Cut the foam sheet to the approximate size of the foam seat pad.

Spray upholstery glue between the foam sheet halves. Press down to glue the halves together.

Use spray upholstery glue to glue the foam sheets to the foam seat pad.

Trim off the excess foam sheet pieces using a small, sharp knife.

Put the gel pad on the foam-covered seat pad.

Cut two foam strips to the width of the seat if you want to raise the seat height. Glue the strips to the front and back of the gel pad. Trim away excess foam, if necessary.

Set the gel pad seat cushion on the plastic shell.

Wrap 1/4-meter vinyl or leatherette over the seat cushion. Fold the vinyl over the edges of the seat and shell. Pull the vinyl tightly to remove wrinkles.

Use a staple gun to staple the vinyl to the underside of the shell.

Reattach the seat to your motorcycle.
