How to Build a Wall-to-Wall Credenza

The low design of a credenza makes it a sleek storage choice for any room in your home. The piece holds extra serving dishes and cookware in a kitchen, acts as an entertainment center in a living room and serves as a makeshift buffet or serving station in the dining room. A wall-to-wall credenza stretches from one wall in the room to the other wall, creating the look of a built-in storage unit.

Instructions

    • 1

Place four 24-inches-by-16-inches-by-¾-inches and four 16-inches-by-20-inches-by-¾-inches plywood boards on a flat surface. Sand all areas of the wood with fine-grit sandpaper until the wood feels smooth to the touch.

    • 2

Paint the wood with paint and a foam paintbrush. Let the paint completely dry and apply a second coat if needed. Turn the wood over and paint the other side. Make sure that you cover the pieces completely with paint.

    • 3

Lay two boards of each size into a rectangular frame. The 24-inch-long pieces act as the bottom and top, while the 20-inch-long pieces serve as the sides. Screw 2-inch wood screws into the corners of the boards, attaching two screws on each side. Repeat this step with the remaining four boards.

    • 4

Arrange the two rectangular boxes against one wall in the room. Measure the space between the box and the opposite wall. The measurement tells you the number of boxes needed to create the credenza. Make as many boxes as needed to make the pieces fit between the two walls.

    • 5

Turn one of the boxes upside down. Drill four holes in the bottom of the box, placing one hole near each corner. Set a 6-inch screw-in leg on one hole and twist into place. Attach a leg to each corner. Repeat this step with each of the boxes.

Flip the boxes upside down again so that each one sits on the new legs. Place the boxes side by side against the back wall, which makes a credenza that spans across the room.
