Draw a rectangle on a piece of 1/2-inch plywood with a pencil. It should measure 14 inches wide and 48 inches high. Use a carpenter's square to ensure that your lines and angles are accurate.
This will be enough for the sides for three stacking racks. If you want more, add an additional 16 inches of height to the rectangle.
Draw pencil lines across the rectangle to divide it 8-inch tall sections. Each section will be a shoe rack wall.
Draw a 6-inch diameter circle onto each 14-inch line, lining up the center of the circle with the center of the line.
Erase the bottom of each circle and the line inside the circle, creating the side walls of the shoe racks. These walls are 8-by-14-inches with a half-circle notch on the bottom and a half-circle tab on the top.
Cut out the side walls with a band saw or jigsaw.
Cut an 14-by-24-inch piece of plywood and a 7 1/2-by-24-inch piece for each pair of side walls.
Place a 14-by-24-inch piece on a work table to form the rack's bottom. Stand two walls next to it with the tabs facing up, the 14-inch sides lining up.
Nail the side walls to the base with 4d finishing nails, hammered in every 2 inches.
Stand a 7 1/2-by-24-inch piece on the base, between the side walls, to serve as the rear of the rack. Nail it in place along all three sides to complete the rack.
Build additional racks following Steps 7, 8 and 9. Each rack will have two side walls, a base and a back.
