Lay a sheet of 8-by-12-inch, 1/4-inch plywood flat on your work table. Glue two pieces of 8-inch 1/2-by-1-inch lumber along the 8-inch sides of the plywood, with the 1/2-inch side of the lumber connecting with the plywood. Glue an 11-inch piece of 1/2-by-1-inch lumber along the back of the plywood, in between the ends of the two 8-inch pieces of lumber. This creates a tray with three sides. Repeat so you have three identical trays.
Paint or varnish the trays, as well as four pieces of 15-inch 1-by-2 lumber, which will be the legs of the three-tray storage unit, and let dry before continuing.
Stand all of the trays on an 8-inch side, 5 inches apart. Sit two of the legs over the top of all three tray sides, even the with corners of the three trays, and with the top of the legs flush with the top tray.
Drill two pilot holes, sized for the shaft of 1 1/4-inch wood screws, through the legs into the sides of each tray. Secure the legs to the trays with 1 1/4-inch wood screws through the pre-drilled holes.
Turn the trays over, so the other 8-inch side is exposed and attach the remaining two legs to the three trays in the same manner as you did the first two.
Stand the trays upright on the legs, and pop a screw plug into each screw hole to finish the sink storage trays. The tray unit will sit next to the sink to store soap, cosmetics and other toiletries.
