Instructions

    • 1

Lay the artwork face down on the sheet of glasseine and carefully fold the glasseine around it. Use a sheet of glasseine that is big enough to completely cover the art. Glasseine is a type of archival, acid-free paper used for keeping artwork free of lint and dust. Hold the glasseine in place with tabs of acid-free tape.

    • 2

Wrap the artwork, which has been wrapped in glasseine, in a piece of polyethylene sheeting (plastic). Use enough plastic to cover the artwork, but do not use an excessive amount. Hold the polyethylene sheeting in place with colored packing tape. Clear packing tape is difficult to see and not recommended for art packing. Make sure that there are no gaps in the polyethylene where moisture can get in.

    • 3

Place plastic-wrapped silkscreen art face down in the center of a piece of clean, flat cardboard. This piece of cardboard should be larger than the artwork by approximately 2 inches on all sides. The extra cardboard will keep the edges of your silkscreen art from getting crumpled or bent.

    • 4

Gently tape the artwork to the piece of cardboard with tabs of acid-free tape. Use just enough tape to hold the artwork in place.

    • 5

Place a second piece of clean, flat cardboard, equal in size to the first piece, on top of the artwork. Completely seal all sides with colored packing tape. Use a broad tip marker to clearly identify the contents.

    • 6

Completely wrap the sealed cardboard with a piece of polyethylene sheeting and seal it with colored packing tape to further protect your silkscreen art from moisture. You may determine that this step is not necessary.

    • 7

Place your wrapped silkscreen art in a safe, dry place where it can remain flat.
