How to Paint Chests

The right paint job on a chest can create a lasting, decorative treasure for a home. Whether for storage or simply a show piece for room, a chest may serve as a multi-purpose item. For a young girl, it might be a hope chest, or for a boy, a box for all the special treasures they wish to keep for years to come. Whatever the purpose, the outward appearance should fit the living situation.

    • 3

Apply metal primer is necessary. If the chest is made of a metal substance, cover the item with metal primer using a paint brush. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
