Position two 3/4-by-24-by-60-inch MDF boards next to each other on the working surface. Have an assistant hold them up on their thinnest and longest edge, parallel to each other and three feet apart. Consider these two boards the side boards of the media unit. Set a 3/4-by-24-by-36-inch MDF board against one end of the side boards to be the top board.
Position four 1-inch "L" brackets evenly along the joint of the top board and each side board. Drill holes through the holes in each bracket, and fasten them in place with 3/4-inch wood screws. Repeat to add another 3/4-by-24-by-36-inch MDF board on the other end of the side boards with the same procedure. This board will be the bottom board.
Set a large 3/4-by-36-by-61 1/2-inch MDF board on the ground and set the rectangular entertainment center frame on top of it evenly. Arrange 1-inch metal "L" brackets every 12 inches around the inside of the frame where it meets this large board, which is the rear board. Drill holes through each bracket hole and attach the brackets in place with 3/4-inch wood screws.
Stand the MDF unit upright on its bottom board. Position a 3/4-by-24-by-34 1/2-inch MDF shelf board in a desired shelving location within the cabinet. Set a carpentry level on top of the shelf to make sure it is straight. Have an assistant hold the shelf in place and position three 1-inch "L" brackets underneath the shelf against each side board.
Mark the locations of the bracket holes on the shelf and the side boards, then remove the shelf board. Drill out the holes at each marking on the shelf board and side boards and then reposition the shelf and screw the brackets in place with 3/4-inch wood screws. Repeat as needed for additional shelving.
