How to Enclose My LCD in a Corner Cabinet

LCD televisions are common appliances in modern-day homes. These flat panel televisions are known for their high quality pictures and sleek, thin design. If you're planning on storing your LCD TV in the corner of a room, enclose it in cabinet that is designed for corner use. The cabinet will protect the television from potential damage and serve as a designated media area for the space.
  1. Preparations

    • Prior to purchasing a corner-style cabinet for your LCD television, you'll need to make some preparations. First and foremost, decide on a corner in which to place the cabinet. When choosing a location, check to make sure that there is a power source nearby to supply power to the television. After you choose a corner, take measurements of the television and the corner itself. Use a measuring tape to measure the height and width of the television and the width and depth of the corner itself.

    Choosing a Cabinet

    • After you select a corner and take measurements, choose your cabinet. Choose a cabinet in a style and color that coordinates with the design of the room in which the storage piece will be used. For example, if the room has a rustic design, consider knotty pine, or if the space has a contemporary look, buy a black or white lacquered piece. In addition to the style, take the dimensions into consideration. Purchase a cabinet that will fit into the chosen corner and will comfortably house the television.

    Put the Cabinet in Place

    • Once you purchase the cabinet, it's time to put it in place. Clear the corner of the room of any obstructions and fit the cabinet into its spot. Position the cabinet so it is centered in the corner. Don't push the cabinet all the way into the corner yet; you will want to wait until the television is in place to do that.

    Installing the Television

    • When the cabinet is set in place, you're ready to install the television. Open the doors of the cabinet and place the LCD on the shelf inside. Feed the wires for the television through the hole in the back of the cabinet. After the wires are fed through the hole, pull them through the hole and plug them into the power source. Adjust the LCD so that it is centered in the cabinet. Slowly and carefully push the cabinet into the corner. Ask an assistant to help you put the television in place and to move the cabinet to avoid potential damage to the appliance or the piece of furniture.
