How to Know If a New Mattress Is Working?

There is absolutely no substitute for a good night's sleep. Sometimes, you may have trouble resting on a brand new mattress, especially if it hasn't been broken in. You may find that it can take several weeks for your body to completely adjust to the feel of a new mattress. Furthermore, If your new mattress isn't from a quality manufacturer, that may play a huge role in your inability to sleep comfortably.

      Observe your sleeping patterns and quality of sleep. If you're able to sleep comfortably through the night on your new mattress, chances are its working just fine. The absence of tossing and turning through the night indicates that your body is at peace.

      Notice how you feel from a physical standpoint. Do you have any aches or pains as a result of your new mattress. If you wake up more stiff than when you went to bed, chances are your new mattress is the culprit. Soreness in your shoulders, hips, and back region when you sleep, may provide further evidence that your new mattress isn't offering your body the type of comfort that it should.

      Look for out of place springs or coils by firmly pressing down in certain areas of your mattress. If a coil is out of place, you'll immediately feel it. This is a sure indicator that your new mattress isn't operating as it should.

      Check to see if your new mattress is squeaking. Squeaking is an indicator that your mattress may have a malfunction in its innersprings.

      Check for signs of sagging. This will occur primarily in the middle section of your mattress. It may take years for a firm mattress to start sagging, unless a manufacturing error has occurred.
