• Novaform received a comfort rating of 81 percent because it tended to have less durability and more off-smells than the other brands, Sleep Like the Dead reports. Respondents said their Novaforms had medium to high firmness, and those who didn't like the product typically said it was too firm. Premature sagging was another drawback respondents reported. Available at Costco, this mattress costs between $500 and $1,000, depending on mattress size.

Bergad/Isoform

• The Bergad/Isoform memory foam mattress was given an 80 percent comfort rating. Respondents said this mattress only had fair durability and medium firmness, but had excellent motion isolation and good value. Respondents further reported the mattress as having an initial odor, but it was fairly good at keeping people from overheating. • Tempur-Pedic is the leading brand for memory foam mattresses, though it only received an 80 percent comfort rating. Compared to less-expensive memory foam mattress brands in general, it did perform somewhat better in terms of durability and pain relief.
