How to Glue a Foam Mattress

Foam mattresses can be re-purposed for any number of crafts. The foam is lightweight and shape-retaining, which makes it great for costume design. Or, you can double up the layers of an old foam mattress to make a new pillow. If you are having a children's party, or need to fill up some classroom time, spread some large pieces of foam mattress over the table and let the kids decide what to make with it. The mattress foam is easy to cut and glue (with supervision), making the possibilities nearly endless.

• Hot glue stick
• Hot glue gun
• Foam adhesive
• Spray adhesive

     Brush away any loose foam or other debris from the surface of the foam mattress piece.

     Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the foam mattress piece. Glue guns and spray adhesives are ideal for gluing polyurethane foam. Other glues may melt or tear the foam. For a long-lasting, secure bond between two foam pieces, try a specialized foam adhesive like 3M's Fastbond Foam Adhesive.

     Attach the foam mattress piece (or pieces). Apply pressure for roughly 15 to 30 seconds, or follow the manufacturer's instructions for set times.
