How to Raise an Airbed

Air beds are commonly used for camping and for providing a place to sleep for friends and visiting family. Air beds can be raised by inflating them when they need to be used and deflating them when finished. The air bed is convenient for storage and easy to whip out when needed.
  1. Considerations

    • Unscrew the valve cap on your air bed until it is fully retracted. You may have to pull it out to ensure the air lock is not on.

    Effects

    • Use an electronic device that generates air to inflate your air bed. A hair dryer or vacuum cleaner will work. A hand or foot pump will also pump air into the air bed. If you have one available, you can use an electric air pump that can be plugged into the wall outlet or your car's lighter socket. If using a hair dryer, be sure to put it on the cool setting.

    Significance

    • Place the pump nozzle into the valve and use the inflating device to inflate the air bed. Stop when the air bed has attained the desirable level of firmness. Detach the pump and screw the valve cap on. Be sure to push in the valve so the air lock is closed.
