How to Troubleshoot Select Comfort Beds

Select Comfort beds offer users an unusual feature. You can adjust the firmness or softness of the mattress by changing what is called the "sleep number." You control the sleep number on a Select Comfort bed using a simple remote. This way, you and your partner can experience different firmness or softness levels as you sleep together in the same bed. When you encounter problems with your Select Comfort bed, you can troubleshoot it to avoid a service call.

Instructions

    • 1

Put four new AAA batteries into the hand control if you cannot use it to control the Select Comfort bed. You can also reset the hand control by pressing the "On/Off" head massage button and "POS 1" button simultaneously for five seconds.

    • 2

Pull your Select Comfort bed away from the wall and headboard if the head section will not return to the flat position. These areas can obstruct the head section.

    • 3

Remove the headboard brackets and place the Select Comfort bed on soft carpeting, rather than a hard floor surface, if there is a loud motor noise when activating the massage feature.

    • 4

Use a grounded electrical surge protector when powering your Select Comfort bed. This can help activate a bed that won't turn on.

    • 5

Unplug your Select Comfort bed and keep it unplugged for at least 30 seconds. This will restart the system and solve activation issues.
