While a regular mattress can be flipped to evenly distribute weight, a pillow top mattress must be rotated due to the unmovable cushioned pillow on the surface of the mattress. The rotation of mattresses prevents the springs in the mattress from wearing out due to continuous pressure in the same spot, caused by your body while sleeping. Continuous use of the same sleeping spot shortens the life of your mattress, and can lead to sleep disturbances due to a lack of spinal support. As with any heavy object, you may need help rotating the mattress to prevent injury.
