How to Store an Inflatable Mattress

Store an inflatable mattress properly to keep it protected from extreme temperatures and moisture. Exposure to water can cause mold to grow on the mattress surface. Temperature changes affect how the mattress performs. Both conditions may ruin the inflatable mattress and void your warranty. Inflatable mattress manufacturers offer some suggestions on how to prepare your mattress for storage and where to store it to avoid damaging it.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the sides and bottom of the inflatable mattress with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a mild dish-washing detergent.

    • 2

Launder the mattress cover in warm water on the gentle cycle in your washing machine. Use a mild detergent and no bleach. Tumble dry the cover on low heat.

    • 3

Allow the inflatable mattress plenty of time to dry before storing.

    • 4

Pull out the open air release valve on the inflatable mattress to deflate it. Some inflatable mattresses come with a pump with a deflate setting. Using the deflate selection removes more air at a quicker pace than letting the air escape gradually through the air release valve.

    • 5

Roll the power cord together and secure it together with a string or tie.

    • 6

Fold each side of the mattress into the center.

    • 7

Roll the mattress up tightly, starting at one end and working to the opposite end.

    • 8

Place the mattress into a storage bag, often provided by the manufacturer.

    • 9

Store the inflatable mattress in a clean, dry area that maintains room temperature.
