Memory Foam Mattress Sizes

Twin Size

• Twin, or single, mattresses are the smallest adult memory foam mattress available. They are 38 inches wide by 75 inches long. Due to variations by different manufacturers, however, some may measure 39-by-75 inches. Twin mattresses are suitable for smaller spaces, bunk beds, daybeds and for children and teens.

Twin XL Size

• Twin XL memory foam mattresses are also referred to as twin extra long or twin long. Because twin-size beds are relatively small, twin XL beds are made to accommodate people who are taller and less likely to be comfortable when sleeping on a twin. This mattress is 38-by-80 inches.

Full Size

• The full-size mattress is meant for full- or double-size beds. The double bed is larger than twin-size beds but smaller than the queen. They are 54-by-75 inches and called double by some memory foam mattress retailers. In addition, some retailers offer a slightly larger full-size bed that measures 53-by-80 inches, which is called full extra long.

Queen Size

• The queen-size mattress is 60-by-80 inches. This size mattress is consistent with the measurements for most queen beds and memory foam manufacturers. When compared to the full-size mattress, it offers 750 square inches of additional space and is suitable for two people.

King Size

• The memory foam mattress that is made for king-size beds is 76-by-80 inches, the widest of the mattress sizes with room for two people to move around comfortably. As its name suggests, it is made to fit the king-size bed.

California King Mattresses

• The California king is the longest of the memory foam mattresses. Its measurements are 72-by-84 inches. This type of bed is suitable for people who are very tall and need additional leg room for comfort.
