What Is a Rolled Mattress?

A rolled mattress is a foam sleeping pad that is mechanically pressed, rolled and wrapped in plastic for shipment. Once removed from the packaging, the mattress is unrolled, and the foam returns to its original shape.
  1. Specifications

    • Rolled mattresses are made of memory foam that conforms to the sleeper's body, returning to its original shape when not in use. Some brands are available in twin, full, queen, king and California king sizes; others are available only in twin sizes, to fit bunk beds or folding beds.

    Features

    • Rolled mattresses are manufactured with flat or quilted covers and can be used on bed frames, on existing box springs or on the floor as guest beds. Depending on the brand, several hours to several days are necessary for the mattress to completely resume its original shape, once it has been removed from its packaging.

    Considerations

    • Rolled mattresses are available in styles that range in depth from 2 to 7 inches, with an average depth of 5 inches. All types provide comfortable sleep support for individuals weighing up to 350 lb.
