How to Fix a Leak Around the Plug in My AeroBed

AeroBeds are most commonly used as guest beds inside the house or for camping, so they spend a lot of time stored away when not in use. Damage to the bed can happen while it is not in use, so when you most need a working AeroBed, you are stuck with a leaky one. Fixing a leak around the plug on an Aerobed does not require any special patching experience and is completed within minutes with the exception of drying time. Knowing how to properly apply a patch to a leaky bed extends the bed's life and saves you money.

Instructions

    • 1

Deflate the bed as much as you can so that no air is exiting the hole. This allows the epoxy sealant to dry without being displaced by exiting air.

    • 2

Prep the hole and its surrounding area. Clean the area using rubbing alcohol applied to a cotton swab. Cleaning the area allows the epoxy to bond to the mattress as opposed to bonding to a layer of filth covering the surface.

    • 3

Apply enough epoxy sealant to cover the hole and wipe off any excess, then cover it with a patch. Allow the patch to dry according to the directions on the patch kit. Fill the bed with air, feel around the patch for air and listen for a leak.
