What Is the Advantage of a Queen Split Bed?

Queen split beds have advantages over regular queen-size box spring and mattress sets. If you need the room and comfort of a queen-size bed, but have a smaller home with hard to maneuver areas in the house, you will benefit from a split queen-size bed that is easier to move.
  1. Split Queen Size

    • The split queen mattress and box spring will measure 60 inches wide by 80 inches long when put together on a queen-size bed frame. Each mattress and box spring comes in two pieces. Each piece is 30 inches by 80 inches, which makes the queen-size bed easier to handle and navigate.

    Maneuvering

    • Queen split-bed mattresses and box springs will fit through smaller doorways and hallways that have low ceilings or sharp corners. If you have a narrow, low staircase, the split queen mattress and box spring will fit better than if you were trying to fit a regular one piece queen-size mattress and box spring.

    Flipping Mattresses

    • If you need to flip your queen-size mattress, a split mattress is easier to lift. Instead of having to lift and turn or flip a single mattress, you are only flipping and turning a mattress that is half the width, which makes it easier to handle.

    Bedding

    • Although you can purchase bedding that has two flat sheets, one fitted sheet and two pillowcases for a split queen mattress, the split queen can use regular queen-size sheet sets with one flat sheet, one fitted sheet and two pillowcases.

    An Extra Mattress

    • If you have a small home that doesn't allow for a spare bed for company, you will benefit by having a split queen-size mattress. Although the mattress and box spring fit into a standard queen-size frame, you can place one section of the box spring and mattress on the floor anywhere in the home to make a spare bed for company.
