How to Deflate a Therm-a-Rest Mattress

The Therm-a-Rest mattress is a portable air mattress designed for camping and outdoor trips. It is technically referred to as a "sleep pad" as it is thinner and smaller than a traditional air mattress. Inflation can be done with your mouth so there is no need for a pump. Deflating the pad is just as simple and, when done properly, ensures the pad can be rolled up to its smallest size without being damaged.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the air valve on the bottom edge of the mattress on the top side.

    • 2

Twist open the valve until you hear or feel air coming out.

    • 3

Go to the other end of the mattress. Use your hands to slowly roll up the mattress, moving toward the end with the valve.

    • 4

Gently push and squeeze the mattress as you roll it up.

    • 5

Unroll it when you reach the valve end and repeat steps 3 and 4 multiple times until the mattress is fully deflated.
