How to Break in Your Sealy Mattress

The Sealy company makes innerspring, foam and latex foam mattresses. The foam models aren't "broken in" in the traditional sense, as the material returns to its original form once pressure is removed. However, an innerspring mattress requires special care to allow it to form to your body properly and continue to give uniform support as it ages.

Instructions

    • 1

Rotate the mattress 180 degrees every two weeks for the first six months of use. Don't add additional accessories such as foam mattress covers at this time. Make sure the mattress is completely aligned with the boxed-spring set. One exception is the addition of a protective mattress pad, which is recommended before sleeping on the mattress for the first time.

    • 2

Add any additional mattress accessories such as pillow-top covers after six months of regular use.

    • 3

Rotate the mattress 180 degrees every six months as long as you own the mattress. This ensures an even and perpetual "breaking in" of the mattress and helps maintain its shape.
