How to Spot Clean Microfiber Furniture

Microfiber furniture is made from fibers with incredibly thin strands. This produces a soft, almost suede-like feel. Microfiber furniture is generally water repellent. Cleaning microfiber furniture involves paying attention to what type of microfiber the furniture is made of.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the tag on the microfiber furniture for a cleaning code. Most microfiber furniture comes with tags that display a W, S, or WS. These are codes for the types of cleaning solutions you can use. W means you can use a water-based solution. S requires a solvent cleaner such as a chemical-based upholstery cleaner. WS means either can be used.

    • 2

Treat the stain with the appropriate cleaning solution. If the microfiber is W, gently dab the water-based cleaning solution on the affected area. Gently dab the solvent cleaner on the affected area if the microfiber furniture is labeled S. Do not rub or brush the stained area. Pat the area with a damp rag and allow the rag to lift the stain off the furniture.

    • 3

Gently pat the affected area with a dampened rag. After patting the area with the cleaning solution, use a fresh rag dampened only with water and pat the affected area. Leave the dampened rag on the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes and allow the rag to lift the stain off the furniture.

    • 4

Gently dry the area with a dry towel or let it air dry.

    • 5

Repeat the steps if the stain persists.
