Measure the front, back and sides of your furniture piece to determine how much fabric you will need. To this measurement, add another six inches to the length and width for tucking and hemming the fabric. Using sewing pins, attach the center of the fabric to the center of the furniture piece. Drape the rest of the fabric over the edges on all sides till it meets the floor. Tuck the excess fabric into the inside back and sides, and use pins to hold it into place temporarily. Use electric scissors to cut around the bottom of the fabric, leaving approximately one inch for hemming.
Remove the fabric from the furniture piece. Fold the cut edge under twice, creating a 1" hem, pinning to keep it in place. Sew a 5/8" seam along the folded edge of the fabric, removing the pins as you sew.
Place the cover back onto the furniture piece, again finding the center and pinning it into place. Now begin tucking the cover into the inside back and sides, and use the upholstery pins to pin the cover securely into place. Screw the pins into the inside corners of the furniture piece so that they are not visible.
