Instructions

    • 1

Sand the furniture well, so that you have a completely smooth surface to paint. If the furniture has old paint on it, sand it gently to even out the surface. If it has a shiny surface, rough it up with sandpaper before smoothing it out again. High-gloss paint shows every flaw, so it's important to get your surfaces totally smooth.

    • 2

Use a damp cloth to wipe down the piece, and sweep or vacuum up any loose sandpaper grit in your work area.

    • 3

Open the primer; stir it with a paint stirrer. Use a paintbrush to neatly apply a uniform coat of primer to your furniture. Let the primer dry for 24 hours.

    • 4

Open and stir the high-gloss paint. Use a clean brush to paint the piece. When you have applied a complete coat of paint, let it dry thoroughly.

    • 5

Use the brush to apply a second coat of paint to the furniture, being sure your application is smooth and even. Let the piece dry completely, and make any touch-ups, if needed.
