How to Put Legs on a Curio Cabinet

Curio cabinets can be a creative addition to any decor. Most curios have flat bottoms. This creates stability for anything that you may want to display If this does not suit your taste, you can add legs to your curio with some inexpensive items from your local hardware store.

Instructions

    • 1

Check so see that your curio is either wood or a composite with a base that is at least 2 inches deep.

    • 2

Empty the curio, including shelving. Place it on its side so that the base is accessible.

    • 3

Hold the metal top of the leg attachment flat to the base of the curio. Make sure that the metal top of the leg is flush with the corners of the curio. Use a pencil to mark the 3 to 4 existing holes in the metal top of the leg. Repeat this at each corner of the curio. You must put a leg on each corner so that it will remain level and not tip over.

    • 4

Drill a hole at each pencil mark. Use the bit that corresponds to the size of the screws that came with the leg attachments. The leg attachment directions should tell you the bit size and the depth to drill.

    • 5

Hold the metal top of the leg attachment flat to the base of the curio and screw in each screw until the leg is secure. Repeat for each leg attachment.

    • 6

Stand the curio up and make sure that it sits level. If the curio is not level, identify the leg that is unlevel. Lay the curio back on its side so that the base is accessible and attach a self adhesive floor protector to the leg that is not level. Stand the curio up and check to be sure that it is now level. If it still is not level, repeat the previous step until the curio sits level.
