How to Clean a Scotch Guarded Microfiber Couch

One of the nice things about microfiber covered furniture that has been Scotch guarded is that when a mess does occur, it is very easy to clean. Attacking a stain or a spill as soon as you see it will make the cleaning process that much easier. Do not over saturate your couch with water when cleaning as this can lead to discoloration and add a stiffness to the fabric. To keep your couch looking its best, brush it every day before you retire for the evening.

Instructions

    • 1

Brush the entire couch with your lint brush. This will help to remove lint, dust, dirt and debris and soften any hard spots.

    • 2

Dab at any wet spots with your hand towel. Do not rub, as this can spread the spill or the stain and make it more difficult to remove.

    • 3

Fill your small bowl with water and dip the end of your second hand towel into it. Wring out any excess moisture.

    • 4

Dab the wet wash cloth at any spot of stain on the microfiber. Do not rub.

    • 5

Pour a small amount (silver dollar sized amount) of liquid clothes detergent into your second bowl.

    • 6

Dip the end of your wet hand towel into the detergent and dab at the stain or spot, until it is removed. Do not rub.

    • 7

Dip the end of your third hand towel into your water and wring out any excess moisture.

    • 8

Dab the wet hand towel over the area you just clean with detergent. Repeat until the soap is gone.

    • 9

Dab at the wet spot with the dry end of your hand towel until it has dried.
