Preparing The Sofa

  Clean your sofa. Since the sofa is white, clean it as well as possible. Use the couch-cleanser or any other deep-cleaning fabric cleanser.

  Look at the chart (See References.) to see what type of sofa you have and therefore the amount of dye you need for your sofa. The attached reference page has a chart of over 50 sofas and chairs that you can match to your own sofa.

  Measure your sofa if you don't trust the chart or can't find your sofa on the chart. The ratio is one can (8 oz.) of dye to one yard or 36 inches of fabric.

Dyeing the Sofa

  Test a hidden area before dyeing the whole entire couch. This will allow you to see if you actually like the color you have chosen. The best hidden areas are the bottom of the seat cushion or pillow.

  Start to paint the areas your want to paint once you are satisfied with the paint color. Perform this process very carefully because mistakes are easily made. Also follow the directions on the canister of dye carefully.

  Paint some more, after it is dry, if you want to touch-up spots.
