How to Stop Furniture From Sliding

Hardwood floors add an elegant look to a home, but they require special care in order to retain a new, shiny appearance. Since the surfaces of wood floors are usually smooth and slick, furniture easily slides around, which can cause scratches. Scratches can be difficult to repair, so it's better to prevent them from happening in the first place. Rubber grip pads can be cut to size and placed under furniture to restrict movement, which in turn prevents scratches.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out a pieces of grip pad that are slightly smaller than the legs of the furniture. The size doesn't have to be perfect, so do your best to make a close estimate. You need one piece for each leg.

    • 2

Peel off the paper from one piece of the grip pad to reveal a sticky adhesive.

    • 3

Lift one corner of the furniture up and stick the grip pad to the bottom of the leg. Put it in the center of the leg to ensure it doesn't stick out from the edges.

    • 4

Repeat the process for the remaining legs of the furniture.
