How to Use Scotchgard on Furniture

You can easily protect your upholstered furniture against spills and stains and thereby lengthen the life of your furniture with a simple application of Scotchgard's Fabric & Upholstery Protector. An application of Scotchgard acts as a shield between the fabric and potential messes, making it possible for you to clean any messes before they soak into the fabric.

Instructions

  1. Prepare for work

    • 1

Protect surrounding areas from overspray by using a large plastic or canvas drop cloth. If overspray occurs while you are working, stop applying Scotchgard and quickly wipe up any overspray with a clean and dry white cotton cloth.

    • 2

Shake the can of Scotchgard well.

    • 3

Hold can of Scotchgard in an upright position about 6 inches away from the surface you wish to spray, and in a slow, sweeping motion, spray protector onto your upholstery. Two light coats are preferable to one heavy coat. Allow the first coat to completely dry before applying a second coat. Drying time will depend on the heaviness of application and humidity conditions.
