How to Repair Scuffs on Leather Furniture

Scuffs and scratches on your leather furniture are hardly cause for alarm despite how they look. They're a side effect of every day wear and tear, and will in most cases heal themselves over time, becoming less noticeable, according to online retailer Furniture from Home. However, if you have a scuff that isn't going away on its own, there are some ways to get rid of it.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

  1. Polishing Out the Scuff

    • 1

Put a small amount of leather conditioner on a rag.

    • 2

Buff the area in a circular motion with the rag.

    • 3

Use another rag to wipe off the excess product. If this doesn't remove or greatly improve the appearance of the scuff, the top coating of lacquer on your leather furniture is probably damaged.

    • 4

Purchase a can of acrylic lacquer. This is an item your local hardware store will probably have.

    • 5

Do a spot test on an inconspicuous area of your leather furniture with the spray, and allow it to dry completely to make sure it will look right.

    • 6

Spray a small amount of lacquer over the scuff. Be careful not to soak the area. Allow it to dry, and repeat as needed until desired results are achieved.
