  1. History

    • The Lane furniture company began in March of 1912 in Altavista, Virginia. Broyhill was founded by Thomas Broyhill in Lenoir, North Carolina in 1905. Furniture Brands International now owns both Lane and Broyhill. Cousins Edward Knabusch and Edwin Shoemaker founded the La-Z-Boy company in 1927.

    • The Lane and Broyhill furniture companies manufacture living room furniture such as sofas, recliners, chairs, entertainment centers and tables. They also manufacture bedroom and dining room sets. Broyhill also has a large collection of children's furniture. La-Z-Boy manufactures recliners, sofas, chairs, ottomans, living room tables and patio furniture. However, La-Z-Boy is best known for its recliners.
