How to Create a Sectional

If you crave a decorator look for your living room with comfort and versatility, create a sectional sofa by repurposing other furniture pieces from your home. "The sectional sofa is the one piece of living room or family room furniture that brings people closer together and encourages conversation," according to relationship advice expert April Masini. Think outside the box, or beyond the traditional sofa built for three, and transform your living room. Create comfortable sectional seating with an eclectic flair to fit your small or large living space.

Instructions

    • 1

Center the twin bed set horizontally against a wall in your room.

    • 2
Face the couch toward a focal point in the room.

Bank the arm of your couch up against the wall so that your couch is perpendicular to the wall, facing a focal point in the room such as a fireplace or television. The couch and bed should make an "L" shape like a sectional sofa.

    • 3

Cover the bed portion with a cover that matches the upholstery on the couch.

    • 4
You can never have too many pillows.

Toss throw pillows on the back of the sofa as well as along the wall behind the bed.

    • 5
Round or square, an ottoman fits with a sectional.

Move the ottoman into place as a footrest for people sitting on the couch or additional sectional seating.
