How to Clean Polyester Furniture

Polyester furniture, also known as microfiber, cannot tolerate cleaning with water. If stains do occur on polyester furniture, the material requires a nonwater-type cleaning treatment since liquid can cause stains of their own on the fabric. Spot treatment for stains with the correct products and procedures, along with a thorough vacuuming, should keep the polyester furniture looking like new.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any cushions from the furniture. Attach the hose attachment to the sweeper. Glide the hose over the area where the cushions were. Reach as far as possible into the creases in the furniture to remove crumbs and dirt.

    • 2

Run the hose over the backs and sides of the furniture. Sweep over the entire surface of the cushions with the hose. Replace the cushions after cleaning.

    • 3

Moisten a white cloth with rubbing alcohol. Rub the cloth gently onto any stains on the polyester furniture. With a clean, dry cloth, blot the area, removing the stain and the rubbing alcohol.

    • 4

Brush the area with an old, clean toothbrush. Since polyester hardens after stain removal, brushing it will soften the material.
