IKEA Karlstad Love Seat Instructions

Lay out all of the components for the love seat in a clean area, and separate the mounting hardware based on the type and size, so each type of bolt is separated from the others.

Lay the back of the love seat on the ground so that the four holes across the base are pointed up. Loft the seat portion of the love seat and place it onto the back so that the holes in the base are aligned with the holes in the back. Insert the long carriage bolts from the kit up through the back of the seat, then up through the seat base. Install a washer and lock washer on each carriage bolt, then tighten the bolts down using the nut driver provided in the kit. Flip the seat over so that the base of the seat is on the ground.

Place the seam of the love seat cover over the back of the seat so that the forward section of the cover rolls down the front of the back and the top of the base. Roll the front edges of the cover over the bottom of the seat, then tuck in the middle of the cover into the seam between the seat back and base with your hands. Fold back the cover and secure the hook-and-loop strips on the cover to the hook-and-loop strips on the seat and base until the cover is tight, including the ones on the backside of the love seat.

Place the sides of the love seat on edge so that the three threaded holes in the sides are on the ground. Align the slipcover for the sides with the sides so that the vertical slit on the cover reveals the vertical mounting holes on the sides. Tighten down the slipcover using the hook-and-loop fasteners on the two components. Thread the short side of the studs from the hardware kit into the four threaded holes on both of the side assemblies.

Lay the love seat on its back again, just like it was in step 1. Slide the sides onto the sides of the love seat so that the studs on the sides align with the holes on the back and bottom of the love seat. Install a washer and a nut onto the stud using the nut driver so that the sides are secured to the love seat.

Place the wood legs for the love seat onto the holes in the corners of the love seat by aligning the wooden pin on the leg with one of the holes on the bottom of the love seat, then installing the screws from the kit with the hex-head key from the kit.

Push the pillows from the kit into the slipcovers from the kit. Zip up the sides of the slipcovers so the cushions are secure in the case. Place the cushions on the love seat.
