Basic Vinyl Sofa Colors

The sofa is one of the largest pieces of furniture in the home and, therefore, contributes significantly to the room's overall color scheme. Vinyl sofas offer a range of color choices that don't fade, since they're mixed in during the manufacturing process instead of applied after the vinyl is created. These colors are designed to complement the look of the living room.
  1. Brown

    • The natural color of leather, brown is also a very common shade for leather-look vinyl sofas and couches. Other styles that feature brown include micro-fiber vinyl couches, made of tiny vinyl fibers that feel and look like suede. Aside from classic brown, you'll find vinyl sofas in a variety of similar shades, including light tan colors such as beige and sand, or warm and rich vintage shades such as chocolate or saddle.

    White

    • Although not as common as brown, white vinyl sofas are popular in rooms with light color schemes. White vinyl sofas are available in styles ranging from inflatable pieces to sofa beds and even "L" shaped couches. Finishes range from bright and pure whites that reflect a great deal of light, to warmer off whites and eggshell colors that feature a richer tone. White sofas are notoriously difficult to keep clean and many choose off-white varieties because they hide dirt and wear more easily.

    Black

    • Black is one of the most common colors for sofas of all types, including vinyl. This color is often used in leather-like sofas and appears on glazed, unglazed and suede style vinyl finishes. Black, like white, shows dirt more easily than other sofa colors, so owners of black sofas must often subscribe to a strenuous cleaning schedule to keep the couch looking its best. Unlike lighter colors, dark colored furniture such as a vinyl sofa can absorb light, shrinking the perceived size of the room.

    Gray

    • This cool neutral color works in living rooms with black, white, brown and wood grain color schemes, as well as several other light and dark colors. Gray vinyl sofas are available in both light and dark shades and can be finished to appear like reptile skin or with a smooth and contemporary glaze. Gray sofas do not absorb or reflect a great deal of light and, therefore, do not impact the perceived size of the room.
