The Napolean GDI-30 is a natural gas or propane powered decorative fireplace insert. The on-off switch on the GDI-30 is electric and is wired through your home's main circuitry through a wall switch. However, some models of the GDI-30 offered a hand-held remote control switch that interacts with the wall circuitry to power up and ignite the fireplace unit. If you find that your hand-held remote will not interact with the wall switch it is possible you will have to change the batteries.
