How to Attach a Recliner Handle

Reclining chairs and sofas are among the most comfortable pieces of furniture in a home. With a single movement of the handle, a recliner can have you sitting upright and alert or fully reclined for relaxing. A handle that has been removed for replacement or for other maintenance reasons can be attached again with the proper tools. No special skills are required to perform the work, and the time it takes to complete is minimal.

• Torx driver tool

     Place the recliner handle over the square-shaped shaft on the lower right side of the chair. Press the handle onto the shaft firmly until it is fully seated.

     Locate the recess for the set screw in the lower section of the handle. The set screw secures the handle to the square shaft.

   • 3

     Insert the set screw into the handle and tighten it clockwise with a #30 Torx driver inserted into a Torx driver tool.
