How to Remove Dye Rubbed on a Fabric Sofa

Fabric couches are comfortable and aesthetically appealing, which is the reason so many people choose to decorate their home with them. However, a fabric couch is far more difficult to clean than leather couches should you accidentally get dye or ink on the material. Like many stains, dyes are difficult to remove from fabric, but because of their similarity to ink stains, dye stains can be removed using the same methods you use to remove ink. Depending on the color of your fabric couch, you can try several methods of stain removal to erase dye stains from your couch.

Instructions

Coat the stain with milk and let it sit overnight if your couch is made of a colored fabric. Clean the milk and the stain the following morning by placing it in the washing machine. This only works if the cushion covers on your fabric couch are removable.

    • 2

Mix lemon juice and salt in a bowl; mix it so that it creates the consistency of paste. Rub it on dye stains on white couches and let it sit. Wash it off after a few hours to remove the stain.

Place baking soda and water in a bowl and mix it. Apply the solution to your couch cushions and rub with a damp cloth until the stain is removed.
