  Purchase furniture glides, which are sold in most home improvement or department stores. The glides are small, dish-shaped pieces of plastic that fit under the legs of furniture to make it easier to slide on carpet.

  Bring the recliner to the full upright position.

  Lift the front of the recliner and slide furniture glides under the front legs. Have someone help you, with one person lifting the recliner and the other placing the glides underneath.

  Raise the rear of the recliner and place furniture glides under the rear legs. Slide the recliner to the desired location.
