Choose a color different from the color of the leather couch to offset this focal point of the room. For example, if the leather is dark, choose a soft green or pale blue. If the leather is light, choose a royal red or rich gold. Use this color in other furniture, pillows, throws, rugs and wall art.
Opt for other furniture that allows the couch to be the center of the attention. Instead of a loveseat, choose two single chairs with ottomans as additional seating around the couch. Make these chairs look different from the leather couch, using fabric in a neutral shade or light print. Place these chairs near the couch to complete the seating area.
Create a more distinct delineation of your focal point by placing an area rug beneath the seating area. Choose a rug that features the colors you are using in the room. Use a rug that is large enough to cover the entire seating area you will create with the couch, single chairs and tables.
Use tables that fit the other furnishings. For example, if your style tends toward modern, keep the lines of the tables simple and clean. If your style is more country, the tables may have more detail and charm. Flank the couch with two end tables and place a coffee table in front of it to provide a variety of surfaces in the room. A console table behind the couch or against a wall may work for your room, too.
Add some patterned and solid pillows to soften the leather and make it cozier. Find pillows that pick up the colors you chose for the room and mix up the patterns, texture and colors in the pillows as you add them to the leather couch.
Drape a throw over the corner of the couch to add additional comfort and texture. Use coordinating colors and patterns for the drape to make it blend with the rest of the decor.
Finish the room by adding table lamps to the end tables, a floor lamp near the seating area and wall art that appeals to you on the walls.
