How to Make a TV Stand With Glass

Build a stylish TV stand for your modern living room or entertainment area using glass and acrylic. A thick sheet of glass is suitable for the top of any TV stand and acrylic is strong for the vertical supports. Build your own television stand using glass for the top surface and two lower shelves.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • 3 glass sheets, 3/4-by-24-by-38 inches
  • 4 acrylic dowels or bars, 2-by-2-by-3 inches

Instructions

    • 1

Lay one glass sheet flat on the ground or a work table and position four three-inch acrylic rods or bars perpendicularly on top of the glass in each corner. Position the rods so they are spaced two inches away from the corners. Place a dab of adhesive about the size of a quarter on one end of each rod or bar and glue them to the glass in this position. Let the glue dry. These are the supports to the bottom of your glass TV stand.

    • 2

Turn the sheet of glass over so it is resting on the three-inch supports. Glue four 12-inch bars on top of the glass so they are aligned with the lower supports. These 12-inch supports will hold your second shelf.

    • 3

Place a dab of glue the size of a quarter on each of the top ends of the 12-inch bars, and carefully set the another sheet of glass on top of them so the glass is aligned with the glass that is directly below it. Let the glue dry completely before continuing the project.

    • 4

Glue the last four 12-inch supports onto the second sheet of glass in the same position as the previous supports. Let the glue dry, then glue the last sheet of glass on top of the top 12-inch supports. Let the glue dry completely before setting your TV on your new stand.

Place your television on top of the top shelf and store your VCR, DVD player or video game consoles on any of the lower shelves.
