How to Adjust a Lazyboy Recliner

The La-Z-Boy recliner provides comfortable seating when closed or in the reclined position, which props your feet up with its build in foot rest. The recliner's default tension is set for steady movement to the reclined position, and is adjustable for faster or slower movement. Once adjusted, the recliner swiftly or slowly reclines or returns to its closed position based on the new tension configuration.

Instructions

    • 1

Push the recliner forward to lay the furniture on its arms and back.

    • 2

Locate the wing nut on the bottom of the chair to access the tension adjuster. The wing nut is a metal nut on top of a metal spring, and is located near the bottom edge of the recliner.

    • 3

Turn the wing nut slowly in a clockwise motion to tighten the recliner's tension. Turn the wing nut counter clockwise to loosen then wing nut's tension. A tighter tension helps support heavy weight in the recliner, whereas a looser tension helps support lighter weight on the recliner.

    • 4

Turn the wing nut on both sides of the recliner's bottom to balance the tension.

    • 5

Lift the back of the recliner into the upright position. Sit in the recliner and push the reclining button on the right side of the chair to test the reclining movement.
