The Easiest Way to Upholster a Recliner

Don’t throw out that old recliner just because it has been soiled or has holes worn into it. Instead, upholster the recliner using a simple slip cover. While slip covers once were available only for sofas and chairs, there are now stretch slip covers available that fit the curves of a recliner. Best of all, it only takes about 15 minutes to install one on a recliner.

     Remove the slip cover from its packaging. Wash and dry it to remove any manufacturing chemicals as well as any creases.

     Lay the cover over the chair and start fitting and tucking, starting at the top back.

     Work forward until you reach the foot rest. Wrap the final bit of fabric under the foot rest and the recliner has just be upholstered.
