How to Make a Slipcover for a Queen Anne Sofa

A Queen Anne sofa is the most traditional sofa available. With a basic back and arms that flow together and minimal detail other than the buttons on the back, it is a simple sofa to cover with a slipcover. The distinguishing marks of this furniture piece are the traditional cabriolet claw-foot legs and conservative fabric. Slipcovers are simple to make, but work best if the sofa is made of fabric, not vinyl. If the Queen Anne sofa is made of vinyl, consider refurbishing the vinyl for a superior look and feel instead.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure your sofa from side to side and top to bottom to help you determine how much fabric you’ll need.

    • 2

Lay the fabric over the sofa and use either pins or chalk to mark the cutting lines for the back and seat piece. Make sure to leave enough room for tucking the cover into the corners. Cut out these two pieces and lay them over the couch.

    • 3

Lay the fabric over the sides, back and arms of the couch and follow step two.

    • 4

Pin all the pieces together with right sides facing in and sew together using a straight stitch.

    • 5

Lay the slip cover over the couch and tuck as necessary.
